Guide to Hiring a Moving Company

Are you moving house for the first time and not really sure about the processes and procedures involved in hiring a home moving company? Fear not! The team at Isaac’s Moving and Storage is here to simplify it for you. Read on to discover when and how to schedule a home moving company so that everything goes according to plan and remains as stress-free as possible.

When?

Seeing as though moving companies tend to get booked up pretty quickly, it is definitely always a good idea to book at least 2 weeks in advance before your move. However, this is only if you require a simple moving service. If, on the other hand, you also require professional packing services or storage services, it will be best to make your booking a lot sooner than that in order to avoid disappointment. We recommend a minimum of 3 weeks in advance. Also keep in mind that most moving companies are at their busiest in the summer, at the beginning and end of each month, as well as on weekends.

Long distance moves (State to State) and International moves are more complex to schedule and so 4-6 weeks prior to the move will make more sense. Call Isaac’s for advice, we will be happy to help.

How?

It is important to get a few of quotes before deciding which moving company you want to use. Do some research on the different companies in your area and weigh up the pros and cons of each. Take into consideration things like the company’s overall reputation, especially in terms of how long they have been in business. Are they well known in your area? Ask around town to establish which company’s services are the most respected and go from there…

Why?

It is also essential that you investigate whether or not each potential moving company has credentials which validate that they maintain important industry standards and regulations. A ProMover Certification and a registration with an association such as AMSA (the American Moving and Storage Association) are all great signs, for international moves check out if they belong to FIDI (Federation of International Moving Companies). You should check if the company is registered with the Better Business Bureau and has a BBB A+ rating.

Once you have done all of your research, have found a reputable moving company that offers a good price, and you have been promised access to all of the moving services you need, you can then proceed to accept the quote and make a booking.

If you would like to receive a no-obligations quote from a reliable, affordable home moving company, be sure to contact us at Isaac’s Moving and Storage. We look forward to helping you through the process every step of the way!
